Add potassium permanganate, sodium carbonate and isoamyl alcohol into water, stir and heat up to 50-70 ℃, react for 3h, filter, and wash manganese mud with hot water. Combine the filtrate, wash and concentrate. Cool to 40 ℃, slowly add sulfuric acid to pH=2-3, leave the Chemicalbook still, separate the oil layer, fractionate, and collect the 173-176 ℃ fraction to obtain isovaleric acid with a yield of 48%.
